Fairfax County officials – aligned with Congressman Gerry Connolly’s radical immigration policies – deliberately released Guatemalan national Ander Cortez-Mendez back into our community after he was convicted of sexual offenses against a child. When ICE attempted to do their job by lodging a detainer request with the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center in March 2024, county officials refused to honor it and instead released this predator back onto our streets. Even worse, when the Fairfax County Circuit Court found Cortez-Mendez guilty of “consensual sexual intercourse with a child” in May 2024, they sentenced him to just three months in prison – then suspended the entire sentence! This means this convicted child predator paid no real consequence for his crimes against our children. Pjmedia
And this isn’t an isolated case. Last year, Fairfax County released another illegal immigrant sex offender who was charged with “felony carnal knowledge of child 13-14 years of age” despite ICE placing a detainer on him. The county refused to honor the detainer and released him on a $10,000 bond just five days after his arrest. Pjmedia
ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Washington, D.C. Field Office Director Russell Hott stated clearly: “Ander Cortez-Mendez is a convicted sex offender, and exactly the type of illegal alien that ICE officers seek to remove from Washington, D.C. and Virginia. We refuse to allow such offenders to continue to threaten the residents of our neighborhoods.” The Gateway Pundit
Meanwhile, Congressman Connolly continues supporting sanctuary policies that deliberately obstruct federal immigration enforcement. On his own website, he boasts about fighting for “comprehensive immigration reform” and “a path to citizenship” while claiming that “immigrants enrichen our community.” House Connolly doesn’t mention how his policies directly enable criminal aliens to remain in our neighborhoods, putting our children at risk.
As Sean D. Kennedy, a member of Fairfax Criminal Justice Advisory Board, correctly stated: “Every illegal alien crime is preventable” and officials who implement sanctuary policies are “no better than accomplices in these heinous crimes.” Pjmedia
It’s time to retire Gerry Connolly in 2026. His radical immigration agenda has turned Northern Virginia into a sanctuary for criminals while endangering our communities. We need representatives who will prioritize the safety of American citizens and legal immigrants – not shield dangerous predators from deportation.
