VIRGINIA'S 11TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT REPUBLICANS

Call for 11th Congressional District Committee Meeting–Saturday, February 28, 2026

Republicans of the 11th Congressional District,

I am honored to assume the role of chairman of the 11th Congressional District Republican Committee (11CDRC). Rosie Oakley left some very big shoes to fill and I’ll do my best. If any of you ever have the desire to communicate with me directly, please contact me via my personal email address (matt@braynard.com) or via cell or text (202.423.5333).

I will call my first meeting for Saturday, February 28th at noon. Please see the official call language below. This meeting immediately follows the Fairfax County Republican Convention and I have been assured by my fellow committee member Steve Rogers that we will have pizza available.

At this meeting we will:

  • Discuss strategy regarding the redistricting battle.
  • Discuss efforts to recruit a congressional candidate.
  • Elect a replacement member to the State Central Committee to fill the vacancy created by my election as District Chairman.

I also am asking everyone who is interested in the SCC position to please fill out this Application for Consideration: https://forms.gle/BH5guR6bgbmut7jn7. Responses will be shared with 11CDRC members ahead of Saturday’s vote.

Please note: filling out the application or attending the meeting are not required to be elected to the remainder of the last two years of the SCC term…. but probably helps your chances a lot.

Some considerations for those interested:

  • The next SCC meeting is Saturday, March 21 at 11:00 AM in Harrisonburg.
  • The role of an SCC member is to help oversee the operations of the Republican Party of Virginia at the state and district levels.
  • SCC members are required under the Party Plan to support the Party’s nominees.

My personal view on the role: Ideology and public policy are established by our Party’s nominees and elected officials. Our nominees are chosen by our Party’s members at conventions and in primaries. In my view, the responsibility of an SCC member is to support the campaigns of the nominees our members select. The Party Plan requires SCC members to support Republican nominees.

Thank you all.

– Matt
