Just because you haven’t heard much lately about the proposal to drop a Casino in the middle of Tysons Corner doesn’t mean the effort is dead. Far from it. As we head into the 2025 legislative session on January 8th, we know that Dave Marsden, the Democrat State Senator representing District 35, which is partially in Fairfax County, has every intention of carrying a bill forward on behalf of Chris Clemente, the CEO of Comstock Companies and developer of the Casino project. It’s not surprising that Marsden waited until he was reelected in 2023, before proposing a casino for Northern Virginia in January 2024. The can was kicked down the road at the end of the 2024 legislative session, but rest assured, another bill is on the horizon: Tysons Casino awaits 2025 General Assembly.
Here are 2 of the benefits I’ve heard cited in support of the Tysons Casino:
Compare those to the significant disadvantages:
A Casino in Tysons would impact all of Fairfax County and not positively. Several of our Democrat elected officials in Fairfax County are leading the way and standing firm in opposing a Casino in Fairfax County, including State Senator Jennifer Boysko; State Senator Saddam Salim; Dranesville Supervisor Jimmy Bierman; Hunter Mill Supervisor Walter Alcorn; Delegate Irene Shin; and Delegate Karen Keyes Gamarra. We are grateful to them for their leadership on this issue of great importance to the future of our community. Please visit the No Fairfax Casino website for more information: https://nocasinocoalition.org.
A Casino anywhere in Fairfax County is a bad idea. Full stop.
Rosie Oakley
11th District Chairman
Tumay Harding is the Republican nominee for State Senate District 32 in a special election on January 7, 2025. Help us end the Democrats’ majority in the state Senate and open the door to more opportunities for GOP legislation in the upcoming legislative session!
You can help even if though we in the 11CD don’t live in the special election districts. We need volunteers to knock doors, make phone calls, and write postcards. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up here: https://tumayforva.com/volunteer/. Here are two ways you can help:
(1) Write postcards to voters from the comfort of your home!
If you’re ready to write some postcards, contact Rosie Oakley at chair@11cd.org. We’ll provide cards, script, addresses & stamps – you just do the writing!
(2) Register to door knock this coming weekend!

In an ongoing effort to remove pornographic and obscene books from our schools, Stacy Langton and Jeff Hoffman are in the fight. They invite you to attend a Happy Hour and hear more about Stacy’s recent success in getting an explicit book removed from school libraries and from Jeff Hoffman, who started a petition drive to remove Providence School Board member, Karl Frisch, from office.
Mr. Frisch is in his second term on the FCSB and is the current Chairman. The petition seeks to hold Mr. Frisch accountable for his actions that violate Title 18, Section 1466A United States Code, which prohibits any person from knowingly producing, receiving or possessing with the intent to distribute “a visual depiction of any kind, including a drawing or cartoon that depicts a minor engaging in inappropriately explicit conduct.” You must be a resident of Providence District to sign the petition, but the event is open to all Fairfax County conservatives who are concerned about the availability of pornography in our public schools.
When? Thursday December 19, 7-9 PM
Where? Patriot’s Pub and Grill, 10560 Main St, Fairfax, VA 22030
Cost? None (drinks and food available for purchase)
