Delegate Mark Sickles of House District 17 has been nominated to a position in the Spanberger Administration, creating another special election, this one on Tuesday, January 20.
Yesterday, Monday, December 29, the GOP nominated Chris Cardiff as its nominee for the seat. Chris will take on Democrat nominee Garrett McGuire in the special election.
Although House District 17 is entirely within the 8th Congressional District (map is here), you can still help Chris by volunteering for and donating to his campaign.
Chris describes himself as “a devoted Christian, husband of over 40 years, father of three, and proud grandfather of five. For the last 12 years of my career, I served as Chief Operating Officer of i360, the leading data and technology firm powering thousands of Republican campaigns nationwide, building on my long career in software.”
The Sickles appointment was announced last Tuesday, December 23, and the filing deadline for candidates was Monday, December 29 at 5:00pm. Despite a ridiculously short window of just six days, multiple Republicans expressed interest in running for the position, and three candidates stepped up for the Party Canvass on Monday: Chris Cardiff, Robert Thomas and Richard Woodford.
