Giving Thanks for the Blessings of America

As we prepare to celebrate America’s special Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends, think about how blessed we are to live in the greatest country on earth. We have so much for which to be thankful, but #1 on my list is gratitude that President Trump is in the White House. More times than I can count, I am reminded of how close he came to being assassinated on July 13, 2024, at the rally in Butler, PA. It was a matter of millimeters and the timely turn of his head that saved Donald Trump from the fate which, sadly, befell Charlie Kirk just 14 months later.

Listen to your neighbors who came to America from countries like Vietnam, China, North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, the former Soviet Union, and other dictatorships or Communist nations around the world. THEY, better than most, understand what persecution and loss of freedom look and feel like. Remember the powerful ad that U.S. Senate candidate (and now Deputy Secretary of the Navy), Hung Cao, ran in 2023? It’s worth watching again: https://youtu.be/IBUE5uft_9k.

When people complain about oppression in America, they have NO idea what they’re saying. Among the most ardent defenders of our nation are those citizens who left everything they knew and loved behind for the promise of freedom in this country.

Remember the No Kings rallies that Democrats were so proud of earlier this year? In Communist nations, if you dared to demonstrate against or mock the leader of your country, you and your family would land in jail or worse, never to be heard from again. It is because the American Constitution grants us freedom of speech that even the most ignorant among us are able to rally, march, and spew their venom. They are protected by the laws of the country they constantly criticize. Even in a nation like the UK, citizens are arrested for silently praying in front of abortion clinics or for social media posts determined to be offensive.

Generations of American military servicemen fought, were wounded, and lost their lives on battlefields around the world to ensure our freedom. On Thursday, as we sit down at our tables laden with delicious food and surrounded by loved ones, please take a moment to pray for President Trump; pray for our military, ICE and law enforcement agents; pray for those with personal struggles; but most of all, pray that America remains a true beacon of freedom – one nation under God.

Wishing you and your family the blessings of this Thanksgiving holiday.
