The 11th District Download:
On Immigration, Democrats Still Don’t Get It from 11th District Chairman Rosie Oakley

It’s become a running joke that Democrats have taken the 20 side of every 80/20 issue. And it’s true. From immigration, to transgender issues, to the Middle East, Democrats continue to stake out positions rejected by bipartisan supermajorities.

But it’s no joke. In fact, it’s dangerous.

Democrats’ latest out-of-touch move: rushing to defend dangerous criminals and gang members in the United States illegally rather than protecting American citizens. As part of the invasion across our Southern border permitted by the Biden Administration, countless members of dangerous and violent gangs, like Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua, were allowed into our country. These are organized criminal gangs that take over apartment complexes and neighborhoods and prey upon law-abiding citizens, many of whom are legal immigrants. (One might say they’ve colonized neighborhoods to serve as their bases of criminal activity; perhaps if we frame the issue as one of decolonization, Democrats might take it more seriously.)

The Trump Administration is now doing what should have been done long ago: deporting members of criminal gangs like Tren de Aragua back to their countries of origin. Most Americans are grateful to have these criminals expelled from our country. Most Americans are happy to see their government prioritize public safety over open borders.

Not Democrats.

No, Democrats reflexively oppose President Trump’s every action, including deporting dangerous gang members who illegally entered this country. Does anyone think our Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution to benefit invaders of our nation? The Constitution is not a suicide pact.

In an effort to aid members of Tren de Aragua who were arrested in Texas last week, the ACLU and Democracy Forward preemptively sued President Trump late Friday to prevent deportation of these gang members. On Saturday, the President labeled Tren de Aragua an invading force and invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, which authorizes him to deport any noncitizen during wartime. Here’s Border Czar Tom Homan’s forceful response to criticism of using an “old law” to justify removing illegal criminals from our country: Tom Homan Responds to Use of Alien Enemies Act.

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, an Obama appointee, issued an order blocking any deportations for two weeks and scheduled a hearing for next Friday. However, two planeloads of prisoners had already crossed international air space when the court verbally directed them to return to the U.S. They landed in El Salvador, where the prisoners were taken into custody by the government of President Nayib Bukele and transferred to El Salvador’s Terrorist Confinement Center. Under an arrangement agreed to by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and President Bukele, the U.S. Government will pay El Salvador $6 million to imprison these gang members for one year. Needless to say, Judge Boasberg was not pleased that the planes carrying gang members did not return to the United States, so attorneys for the Department of Justice were in his courtroom on Monday to defend the Administration’s failure to follow his directive.

It’s worth noting that the same people who wanted to throw the book at non-violent January 6 protesters are now going to battle stations to defend and protect some of the most violent and vicious criminal gangs in the United States. Democrats still have not learned one of the lessons of the 2024 election, that Americans see through their lawfare and ideologically based approach to law enforcement.

President Trump’s mission is to protect American citizens, while many on the Left, including Judge Boasberg, seem intent on allowing these dangerous criminals to remain inside our borders. Keeping Americans safe by arresting and deporting criminals who entered our country illegally is what President Trump campaigned on and what most Americans want. Democrats just don’t get it.

On an unrelated note, please watch the short clip below between CNN’s Jake Tapper and Sebastian Gorka, Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Counterterrorism. It’s priceless! Sebastian Gorka humiliates Jake Tapper

FLECAC Meeting Will Not Take Place … Because FCSB Disbanded FLECAC

Didn’t see this coming. At the March 13 Fairfax County School Board meeting, the FCSB disbanded the Family Life Education Curriculum Advisory Committee (FLECAC),. Consequently, the meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, will not take place.

This means that there likely will be no changes to the FLE curriculum this year, including the previously pending proposal to introduce the topic of gender ideology in the first grade. That proposal has died, for the moment, with the FCSB-appointed FLECAC. The FLE advisory committee will now be appointed by and report to the Superintendent, as is the case with all other curricula advisory committees (reading, math, etc.). Whether and how the gender ideology may return to the agenda is uncertain at this point.

For more on this development and an excellent explanation of what it may mean, read FLECAC Is No More!!!! by Mark Spooner at the Fairfax Schools Monitor blog.
