The 11th District Download from 11th District Chairman Rosie Oakley

Last week in a close vote, the Senate confirmed Kash Patel as FBI Director. He is just the outsider the agency needs.

Kash brings a wealth of legal and intelligence expertise to the position. Unusual for an FBI Director, he began his career as a public defender. He has also served as a counterterrorism prosecutor at DOJ, as Senior Counsel on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and on the National Security Counsel.

Most importantly, he brings a fearlessness and dedication to justice and the truth in national security affairs. He was instrumental in revealing the lies Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee, particularly Adam Schiff, were peddling about the infamous Russia collusion hoax. The committee’s report on the Russia hoax that HPSCI chairman Devin Nunes, Patel, and committee Republicans released revealed Democrats’ FISA abuses and illegal surveillance of members of the 2016 Trump campaign. It was Patel’s work that revealed that the phony Steele Dossier, funded by the 2016 Clinton campaign and perhaps one of the most malevolent documents in recent American political history, was the basis for the unprecedented surveillance of Carter Page–a blatant violation of the Constitution and Page’s civil rights. It’s no wonder Schiff opposed Patel so vehemently–Patel exposed him as a liar and his party as serial violators of Americans’ civil rights for political purposes.

Patel understands at a personal and professional level the need to depoliticize the FBI and other institutions of American law enforcement and intelligence. Democrats have indeed weaponized these agencies against their political opponents. Democrats’ hysteria in opposing Patel is as much about their fears of what more he will reveal about their abuses of American governmental institutions as it is about denying them these institutions as weapons to use against Republicans.

Earlier this week President Trump announced his intention to nominate Dan Bongino as Deputy Director of the FBI, and equally strong move. Bongino will bring an additional important perspective of someone with deep experience in law enforcement but who is not part of or beholden to the permanent bureaucracy.

Patel’s nomination and confirmation is a great step forward in restoring trust in the institutions of American government that the Democrats undermined so badly. The FBI will now focus on its mission–neutral, effective law enforcement against real criminals and terrorism threats, not parents at school board meetings and political opponents. Democrats fancy themselves the party of “norms”, but it is Patel, Bongino and the Trump team that will restore the FBI to its position of trust with the American people.
