We once again want to send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Becky Stoeckel, former 11th District Chairman and City of Fairfax GOP Chairman, who passed away on March 28. We will miss Becky tremendously as a leader, a volunteer, and a friend to Republicans in the 11th District and throughout Northern Virginia. She leaves a lasting legacy of leadership and service to the Republican Party in Virginia. There will be a celebration of Becky’s life this Sunday, April 13, at 12 noon at PJ Skidoo’s Restaurant, 9980 Fairfax Boulevard, Fairfax 22020. All are invited to join us to reminisce, share stories, and pay tribute to Becky’s exceptional legacy with the Republican Party of Virginia and Northern Virginia Republicans.
Becky’s family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. Checks should be made out to Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter and mailed to 4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax, VA 22030. You can also donate here: https://ffcas.org/donate/
This week’s updates from around the district:
Prior to last Friday, when investigative reporter for the Daily Wire, Luke Rosiak, broke a shocking story about alleged embezzlement by a School Board member, you probably remembered little, if anything, about Kyle McDaniel.
In 2018, while serving on the Republican Party of Virginia’s State Central Committee, McDaniel became a Democratic hero when he “quit” the Republican Party over comments made by then-President Trump: Activist Leaves the GOP. He ran for School Board in 2019 as an Independent and, although he didn’t win, he cost Republican Elizabeth Schultz her seat that year. McDaniel ran for Fairfax County School Board again in 2023, was endorsed by the Democrat Party, and elected as a member-at-large.
Kyle McDaniel currently serves as the Chairman of the School Board Budget Committee! Keep in mind FCPS recently submitted a $4 billion budget proposal for the 2026 school year: Supt Reid proposes major increase in FCPS funding. Should someone accused of embezzlement in a just-filed lawsuit be responsible for managing such a huge amount of taxpayer money? Did you know the 9-1 Democrat-controlled Board of Supervisors funds 70% of the FCPS budget with our tax dollars?
As Mark Spooner, a retired attorney and strong Fairfax County education advocate, posted in the Fairfax School Monitor: “If McDaniel misused the funds of a small corporation as alleged, he is surely unfit to supervise the massive $4,000,000,000 spending of a public entity. He should voluntarily resign from the School Board or be forced to do so. Even if he offers a convincing defense to the allegations, he should be removed from his position as chair of the Board’s budget committee and from any other finance-related functions while the litigation is pending.”
Are you wondering how FCPS responded to the allegation of embezzlement detailed in Luke Rosiak’s article? Here you go: “We have been made aware of a civil lawsuit filed against School Board Member Kyle McDaniel. We understand this is an ongoing business and legal dispute. We respect the legal process and will refrain from commenting further at this time.”
Kyle McDaniel should resign from the School Board immediately, while the case works its way through the legal system. And the school board cannot allow an accused embezzler to play any role in managing FCPS’s finances.
How Can You Register Your Outrage?
It’s up to us to hold these elected officials accountable. The Democrats controlling the Fairfax County School Board and Board of Supervisors won’t do it. They care more about ideology than academic outcomes. The results in FCPS schools, from TJ’s plummeting ranking to falling test scores, prove it.
Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears was the only candidate seeking the GOP nomination for Governor to file the required number of signatures by last week’s deadline. Consequently, she is the Republican nominee for Governor! Congratulations to Winsome and her team.
AG Jason Miyares was the only candidate to file the required number of signatures by the deadline and so he is the 2025 GOP nominee for Attorney General! Congratulations to Jason and his team.
The Lieutenant Governor’s race is set as well with two candidates having submitted the required number of signatures: Fairfax County Supervisor Pat Herrity and conservative radio host John Reid. GOP voters will choose their nominee in a primary on June 17.
Please come out to the Fairfax County School Board meeting this Thursday, April 19, at 7:00pm at Luther Jackson Middle School, 3020 Gallows Road, Falls Church, VA. We need a very large crowd to let the Board know that having accused embezzler Kyle McDaniel serving as FCSB’s budget chairman is irresponsible and unacceptable. Make your voice heard by signing up to speak (here: https://www.fcps.edu/school-board/community-participation; deadline to submit a request to speak is TODAY, Tuesday, April 8th at 5:00pm).
