Press release — June 5, 2026

Fairfax County, VA — In its June 5, 2026 release, the 11th Congressional District of Virginia Republican Committee announced that it had voted unanimously at the previous evening’s meeting to pass the following resolution:

The 11th Congressional District of Virginia Republican Committee opposes the passage of all three constitutional amendments on the November 2026 ballot and strongly encourages the Republican Party of Virginia and its State Central Committee to do the same.

District Chairman Matt Braynard made the following statement:

The purpose of the Republican Party is to pursue and exercise political power on behalf of our constituency and their values. We most commonly do that through supporting the candidates our constituents nominate, but there’s no purer exercise of political power than the battle over a ballot initiative. Fighting these fights, both election contests and ballot initiatives, is why our party exists.

Our constituents overwhelmingly oppose these referenda, and they are right to demand that we not just join this fight but lead it. The 11th Congressional District Republican Committee has embraced this responsibility, and we urge the Republican Party of Virginia to do the same.

Win or lose, this battle will leave our party stronger, more unified, more committed, and more experienced for the battles that lie ahead.
